What does a Naturopath do?
“A naturopathic practitioner deals with internal health problems, metabolic disorders and imbalances, through treatment of the whole person. In general, a wide range of assessment techniques are employed to uncover the causative factors, and treatment may involve nutritional advice, dietary changes, herbal medicines, homoeopathy, bodywork or nutritional supplements. Naturopaths will not necessarily utilise all of these therapies, but will have a range of therapies they specialise in. Naturopaths believe that when we restore or maintain the equilibrium of the body, our immune system is better placed to defend itself against infection and disease. Naturopaths are trained in a variety of modalities and therefore able to treat a broad spectrum of illness or disease states that are either acute or chronic.” – Source – www.atms.com.au/page.php?id=75
They use conventional health sciences along with a range of natural therapies in order to treat a person’s mental, emotional and physical states for a lasting effect.
Naturopaths believe that every person has their own healing ability, and naturopathic treatment simply allows the body to repair itself and recover from illnesses. Naturopaths encourage a person to take responsibility for their own health. The goal is to create a lifestyle that supports health and well-being. Naturopaths use therapies such as herbal medicine, nutrition, diet and lifestyle changes as well as massage to assist in health management and the healing process.
